Terms of use

By using SkiWhen you agree to these terms. They're short, and most of them come down to this: our forecasts are estimates, so use your own judgment in the mountains.

  1. Forecasts are estimates
  2. Check before you go
  3. No warranty
  4. Limitation of liability
  5. Not affiliated with resorts
  6. Affiliate links and sponsors
  7. Data sources
  8. Using the site fairly

Forecasts are estimates

SkiWhen predicts crowds from the calendar, holidays, school breaks, weather and other signals. These are estimates, not guarantees. Opening dates, school breaks and other inputs may also be estimates. Real crowds, conditions, lift operations and road conditions can be very different.

Check before you go

Always check the resort's own reports and official road and avalanche information before you travel. Mountain roads and skiing are risky. You're responsible for your own decisions and safety, including whether to drive, what to carry (like chains or traction tires), and where and how you ski.

No warranty

SkiWhen is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Data may be late, incomplete or wrong, and the site may sometimes be unavailable.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, SkiWhen and the people behind it aren't liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or relying on its forecasts, including travel costs, lost lift tickets, missed days, injury or vehicle damage.

Not affiliated with resorts

SkiWhen is independent and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any ski resort, pass program or transportation agency. Resort names are used only to identify the mountains we forecast, and belong to their owners.

Affiliate links and sponsors

Some links on SkiWhen are affiliate links: if you buy through them, SkiWhen may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Sponsored content is always labeled. Neither affects crowd forecasts: no mountain, shop or advertiser can pay to change a crowd call.

Data sources

Weather for US mountains comes from the National Weather Service. Weather for Canadian mountains is weather data by Open-Meteo.com, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Washington pass conditions come from WSDOT. Fonts are Inter and Barlow Condensed under the SIL Open Font License.

Using the site fairly

Please don't scrape the site in bulk, try to break or overload it, or copy it to present as your own. Sharing links and screenshots is welcome.

Changes

We may update these terms as SkiWhen grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms.
